FileMaker issues a new version
FileMaker, Inc. has announced a new version of its database software -- version 12. All products in the FileMaker database family are included in this upgrade:
The server (FileMaker Server 12 and FileMaker Server 12 Advanced)
The Mac and Windows desktop (FileMaker Pro 12 and FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced)
The iPad (FileMaker Go 12 for the iPad)
Here at Magellan's Law, we're certified in the new release, and we've been using it to develop working applications for our clients since the first day it became available.
There are plenty of exciting new features in this release, and one of them -- involving pricing for the iPad version -- is especially exciting.
New project management classes
Managing discovery information is getting more complicated all the time, and the quantity of material being produced far exceeds anything we used to experience in the good old days of paper, Bates stamps, and file cabinets.
If you're responsible for discovery projects, it isn't enough to understand the technology and the litigation, you need real project management skills and techniques.
We can help you and your staff acquire those skills and techniques. We've got a great set of classes for anyone who manages discovery projects.
We can conduct our classes in your offices to minimize disruption and expense. Or you can attend a scheduled, off-site class. We can even break our classes into smaller webinars that can be spread over time.
The small firm disadvantage
Small and mid-sized firms have some disadvantages when it comes to litigation technology. Large firms have entire departments of non-lawyers that specialize in litigation technology. These departments provide on-call resources whenever a new case walks in the door.
For a long time now, we've been helping small and mid-size firms compete.
Sometimes it's as simple as a bit of advice. Often, it's our qd documents ™ litigation software. And other times it's helping to acquire and analyze huge chunks of business data -- a decade of payroll records, for example -- so that our clients have a handle on the real extent of damages in their litigation.
There's probably a way that we can help you better collect, manage, analyze and use the information in your litigation.
