FileMaker issues a new version
FileMaker, Inc. has announced a new version of its database software -- version 13. All products in the FileMaker database family are included in this upgrade:
The server (FileMaker Server 13)
The Mac and Windows desktop (FileMaker Pro 13 and FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced)
The iOS version (FileMaker Go 13 for the iPad and iPhone)
There are plenty of new features in this release, particularly from our perspective as developers. The server has become more powerful, and FileMaker Go has added more iOS-like behavior and features.
Right now, the big question for many people is: Should I upgrade?
Our advice on upgrading to new releases of any software is pretty standard: If you're an expert user and your immediate application isn't mission-critical, then go ahead.
On the other hand, if you're an ordinary user or you are applying the product to a core function in your business, then we'd suggest you give it a month or two before you jump in.
